Who will be accountable for the rise of the country’s economy? This was the rhetoric of Mwizerwa Jean Claude when explaining why he decided to always request EBM receipts when paying for various services.
He mentioned a speech by the President of the Republic, Paul Kagame, that focused on personal accountability, which inspired him to feel responsible for advancing the country by requesting EBM.
This was announced on Friday, December 22, 2023, during a ceremony to appreciate national taxpayers.
In this event, the best taxpayers in different categories for the year 2022/2023 were awarded, where Mwizerwa Jean Claude was recognized for requesting the most receipts when making various purchases.
Mwizerwa Jean Claude said, “It’s quite easy to play a significant role in the country by simply requesting EBM. Being a Rwandan hero or a good Rwandan doesn’t require being called one, just ask for EBM to help elevate your country.”
“The security we talk about, the infrastructure, and many other achievements the country will reach by requesting EBM, regardless of how much your money is worth. By asking for this receipt, you’ll know you’ve been a hero and contributed.”
In his speech, the Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente, the main guest at the ceremony, emphasized the issue Mwizerwa raised, stating that every Rwandan will be accountable for the country’s economic development due to everyone’s contribution in their actions.
Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente commended Mwizerwa for his exemplary behavior, encouraging others to follow his example.
He stated, “Understand what Mwizerwa has done; it’s not about purchasing more than others in the country, but about adopting a culture. This culture of using EBM should be embraced by all, both traders and consumers.”
He concluded by urging those at the meeting to follow in Mwizerwa’s footsteps, saying, “Let’s use EBM to build the Rwanda we desire, and we will all see the benefits, be it traders, taxpayers, consumers, the government, and the entire country.”
