Music: The ultimate cure for sadness – Producer Muriro’s journey to success

In the heart of Rwanda’s music scene, one name is steadily rising—Producer Muriro. Born Muhirwa Fils Jovan, he has made a name for himself as one of the most promising young producers, believing that music is a universal vaccine against sadness. His journey from an aspiring artist to a sought-after producer is nothing short of inspiring.

Muriro was born in Rubavu District, Western Rwanda, where his love for music was evident from an early age. While many children were busy with schoolwork and sports, he found himself drawn to rhythm, melodies, and beats. He wasn’t just a listener—he felt the music deeply, often tapping rhythms on desks and dreaming of creating his own sound.

His turning point came when his uncle introduced him to music production software. What started as curiosity quickly turned into an obsession. Every free moment after school was spent learning the craft, experimenting with beats, and refining his skills. It wasn’t long before he realized that music wasn’t just a hobby—it was his calling.

In 2020, Muriro made a bold decision to pursue music production as a full-time career. He knew it wouldn’t be easy, but he was willing to put in the effort. Without a proper studio or financial support, he had to rely solely on his determination and talent. Many artists hesitated to work with him initially due to his limited resources, but he refused to be discouraged. Instead, he focused on perfecting his craft, and soon, his work started speaking for itself.

Today, Muriro has produced major hits, including Shayo by Ariel Ways, Captain by Kivumbi The King, and My Dreams by Devis D. His dedication and unique sound have earned him recognition not only in Rwanda but beyond.

The road to success was far from smooth. Muriro had to navigate the struggles of an industry with limited investment. Without financial backing, many Rwandan artists and producers find it difficult to compete on an international level. But Muriro remained focused, using every challenge as motivation to work harder.

He emphasizes that Rwanda’s music industry has immense potential but lacks the necessary investment to propel it to greater heights. “We need more investors to believe in our talent. If we can get the right support and collaborations, Rwandan music can break into the global scene,” he states.

Muriro’s dream extends beyond his personal success—he wants to elevate the entire Rwandan music industry. His goal is to see Rwandan artists and producers recognized worldwide, collaborating with top international talents. “I want Nigerian artists, American artists, and others to work with Rwandan producers without hesitation,” he says.

To aspiring artists and entrepreneurs, Muriro offers invaluable advice: “Believe in yourself and your craft. Whether you’re a producer, a barber, or a chef, strive to be the best at what you do. Success doesn’t come overnight, but consistency and patience will get you there.”

He also challenges the misconception that music isn’t a viable career. “Music isn’t just entertainment—it’s a livelihood. It feeds me, sustains me, and brings joy to countless people. Music is a cure for sadness, and that makes it one of the most powerful professions in the world.”

Thanks to his passion and perseverance, Muriro has established his own studio and is now using his platform to mentor upcoming artists. His journey is proof that with talent, hard work, and resilience, anything is possible. As he continues to shape the future of Rwandan music, one thing is certain—Producer Muriro is just getting started.
