In Kinyarwanda, they say ‘kutiga biragatsindwa,’ which roughly translates to’may it be forbidden not to learn. Most people associate this phrase with going to school, but I believe it applies to all aspects of life.

When we think of learning, we automatically think of lessons taught in schools, but there are some important things you should learn even if they are not taught in school.

Managing personal finance

You studied the French Revolution, Napoleon Bonaparte, logarithms, and trigonometry, but you still don’t know how to manage your personal finances.

Look, I’m not attempting to ridicule you, but does it ever happen that at the end of the month you still can’t figure out how you spent all your money?

You have no idea what you bought, how much you spent on expenses, or how much money you have left. Sometimes you’re broke not because you didn’t have any money, but because you spent it.

Managing personal finances is not something you should be ignorant of, regardless of whether you believe you do not require it. Doing our taxes correctly, understanding budgeting, and learning about banking and other basic topics are essential for all of us.

If schools taught more financial literacy, we might be able to make a dent in the debt and financial insolvency that plagues our societies.

Let’s talk dating

Dating is a stage of romantic relationships in which two individuals engage in an activity together, most often with the intention of evaluating each other’s suitability as a partner in a future intimate relationship.

It falls into the category of courtship, consisting of social events carried out by the couple either alone or with others.

The protocols and practices of dating and the terms used to describe it vary vastly between cultures, societies, and time periods.

Although dating is most often colloquially used to refer to the action of individuals engaging in dates with one another, dating can also encompass a wide range of activities which fall outside participation in social events.

This love thing should take slow. Do not force it or overthink it. When all is well, love just happens and you do not have to even plan it.

Critical thinking

Guys, we live in a hilarious yet terrifying world right now. I mean, a lot of things are perplexing, and don’t even get me started on the misinformation and propaganda that is all over the mainstream media and social media.

You must learn to think critically. You must form your own opinions about the things you watch and the messages they are attempting to convey.

Personal hygiene

Personal hygiene is essential! I’m not talking about the cliche of “shower once a day and brush your teeth after every meal,” but rather about true hygiene.

Personal hygiene is the way you take care of your body. Every day, you come into contact with millions of germs and viruses from the outside world.

They can linger on your skin and, in some cases, make you sick. Personal hygiene practices can help you and those around you stay healthy. They can also make you feel better about yourself.

Basic reparations skills

Most people believe that in order to repair something, you must call a “guy,” but this is also something we must learn. You just have to get your hands dirty every now and then.

Learning how to fix things is an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. They are useful in everyday situations.

It allows you to save a lot of money on plumbers, electricians, and even tailors. It also saves you time that you would have spent waiting for your turn or having them come to your house.

Basic first said

Everyone should learn basic first aid as soon as they are old enough to pay attention and remember detailed instructions.

Imagine you’re in a restaurant and your date begins to be shocking, and you have no idea what to do; shame! It is all about helping others when you learn first aid. CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, bandaging wounds, recognizing signs of common medical crises, and so on are all covered.

It is not always possible to leave first aid to paramedics.
