A conversation to have if you are dating

So many women assume men are using protection and so many men assume women are on birth control, and you know what the result is? I think you can guess.

The discussion on the use of condoms or birth control is still thought of as one of the most awkward conversations that people can have, but ignoring it can have life-changing outcomes.

For people who are sexually active, it is important to have these discussions on protection during sexual acts and for family planning, to identify if you are ready to have a child or add to the ones particularly when it comes to finance.

However, it is very crucial that young people who are only dating but engaged in sexual activities should talk to their partners in regards to condoms and birth controls.
Trusting your partner and being safe during sexual encounters are two separate things and once we understand that, we will learn to be more careful.

It is still a wonder as to why it is easy for young people to talk about self-love but the moment it comes to intimacy, they look away and just assume that their partner is the one to take care of it.

To some people, birth controls are a go-ahead to young people to have sexual intercourse at a young age. However, it is important to understand the world we are living in is not so against casual sex so at least if they are protected from diseases and unwanted pregnancies they can be safer.

A lot of young people have become very open to these discussions with their partners. Alice (not her real name) had a similar conversation with her boyfriend, and now are happily planning their wedding.

Alice says that she was “very shy when she started dating, and the discussions about condoms leave alone birth control would have surely made faint if she had to talk about it with her boyfriend.”

The first time they engaged in sexual activity, she just assumed that “he was using protection” but little did she know he also assumed that she was on birth control.

At that point there was a high risk of contracting Sexually Transmitted Diseases or getting pregnant before they were ready.

These are the things that having conversations about condoms and birth controls with your partner prevent for your future, the future of your offspring, health reasons and more.
There are several dangers that come from having sex without a condom or birth control.

A condom is not a simple wrapper as some people refer to it. It is a barrier device used during sexual intercourse to reduce the probability of pregnancy or a sexually transmitted infection.
There are highly effective in preventing HIV and certain other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), like gonorrhea and chlamydia.

However, condoms provide less protection against STDs that can be transmitted through sores or cuts on the skin, like human papillomavirus, genital herpes, and syphilis.
Since no type of condom prevents pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) a hundred percent of the time.

For better preventative methods against unwanted pregnancies, many couples use condoms along with another method of birth control, like birth control pills or an intrauterine device (IUD).
It is an easy process to get birth control but it is important to discuss with your partner which method will work for you as a couple.

There are different factors that should be considered when choosing a method including reproductive goals. This will require each person in the relationship to consider if they want to have children, the time they are willing to wait until they have children or the number of children they want and put in consideration the biological clock of a woman.

From here, if you have different goals as a couple, find a middle ground and make sure both of you are happy with it, otherwise the risks could be hectic.

Discuss the relationship factors and talk about marital status. A person can want children without getting married while their partner could want marriage without children. This is a great opportunity to have these discussions to avoid any incidents that may occur.

There is also the issue of religion. Some beliefs do not condone the use of birth control because they believe a child is always a blessing or even the use of condoms because they teach abstinence until an individual is married.

It is important to discuss protection with your partner to see where you both stand
