Tour du Rwanda is a cycling race that has become a highlight of the cycling calendar in recent years. It is an event that draws riders from all over the world to Rwanda to compete in a grueling race that is both challenging and rewarding. However, what many people do not realize is that the success of Tour du Rwanda is due, in large part, to the young people who work behind the scenes to make the event happen.

Tour Du Rwanda kicked off today with cyclists making a 115.4 kilometer ride from Kigali to Rwamagana. Even Though they are the main focus of the most popular competition in Rwanda they aren’t the only ones making it all happen.

Approximately 1080 people, which is 80% of the people working in Tour du Rwanda are young people. From the presenters, the caravan, the foot soldiers and many more.

From the mechanics who keep the bikes running smoothly, to the stage managers who ensure that everything runs on time, to the presenters who keep the audience engaged and entertained, the young people marking roads, the masseuse that help cyclists after the race, there are countless young people who play a vital role in making Tour du Rwanda a success. Without their hard work and dedication, the event simply would not be possible.

One group of young people who play a particularly important role in Tour du Rwanda are the photographers. These talented individuals are responsible for capturing the action and excitement of the race and sharing it with the world. They are often the unsung heroes of the event, working long hours in difficult conditions to get the perfect shot. Their images help to tell the story of Tour du Rwanda, and they are an essential part of the event’s success.

Of course, it is not just the photographers and technicians who make Tour du Rwanda a success. There are countless other young people who play vital roles in the event, from the stagehands who set up the race infrastructure to the volunteers who help to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Without their hard work and dedication, the event simply would not be possible.

It is important to recognize and celebrate the efforts of these young people who make Tour du Rwanda possible. They are the backbone of the event, and they deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication. They are the ones who make the event run smoothly, and they are the ones who ensure that the riders have the best possible experience.

Mutangana James, a young person working with Rwanda Cycling Federation, FERWACY, as a technician at the finish line says working in Tour du Rwanda is a great opportunity for him.

He is part of the 80% of young people making all this happen. He firmly believes that young people are making all this happen and that it is an opportunity for them to seize the moment, work and sustain themselves.

He says, “Be focused, seize the opportunity no matter what.”

Recognizing the efforts of these young people sends a powerful message about the importance of youth development. Tour du Rwanda is a shining example of how investing in young people can pay dividends.

Tour du Rwanda is much more than just a cycling race. It is a celebration of youth empowerment and development.

By recognizing the efforts of young people in various roles within the event, we are sending a powerful message about the importance of investing in youth. It is a platform that inspires young people to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.
