Rwanda, like many countries in Africa, has made significant strides in recent years in terms of digital literacy. However, there is still work to be done to ensure that everyone has the skills they need to stay safe and make the most of the digital world. According to the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), as of December 2021, the country has over 9 million mobile phone subscribers and over 7 million internet users, with a penetration rate of 68.3%.
These numbers highlight the increasing importance of digital literacy, which encompasses a range of skills such as online safety, communication, and critical thinking. Despite the progress made, there is still a need to ensure that everyone has access to the necessary resources and training to navigate the digital world confidently and safely.
